Everybody has seen Salsa dancing somewhere, whether it be in movies, on So You Think You Can Dance, or in a club, and if you’re one of the few who still doesn’t know how to do it, you’re standing off to the side watching. Watching in amazement, I’m sure, and wishing you knew how to dance that good, right?

So why don’t you learn how to salsa dance?

It’s really not that hard to get started and you just need to keep practicing to get better. There are many reasons why you should learn to Salsa dance.

Salsa dancing is great exercise and is an awesome way to stay fit. Do Salsa dancing one hour a day and you’re sure to start burning off those calories, and quickly. It loosens up the body and you’ll start to notice parts of your body can actually move again. You’ll be building up strength, burning fat, and having fun all at the same time. Who needs a gym?

Salsa Dancing is also very social. Of course you can dance with a friend or significant other, but you can also get wild and switch up partners at a salsa club. You’ll get to meet new people and learn new steps while working with other salsa dancers. Learn their moves or teach them yours!

If you knew how to Salsa dance, do you really think you’d be spending so much time on the couch, watching TV and eating chips? No way! You’ll want to be up and dancing all the time. Salsa dancing is so addictive, you’ll never want to sit down again. Of course your employer might not appreciate that too much.

Salsa dancing has many great benefits, but one of the best is that it’s a ton of fun. Once you start you’ll never want to stop. The steps, the spins,  and the passion!

If you want to learn to salsa dance, I’d recommend picking up a DVD. With video you can learn at your own pace, go back to previous lessons, pause while you practice and you can train at your leisure. You won’t have to cancel your salsa lesson because you got a flat tire or had to work late. You can learn as you have time and the trainers in the videos are highly trained, just like you’d expect from any other trainer. One video I would definitely recommend is the Learn to Salsa Dance Video Series. The video is clear and easy to follow and provides a step-by-step approach to teach you how to learn salsa.

I hope I’ve helped you take the next step in learning how to salsa dance, because right now, you really don’t know what you’re missing out on. See you on the dance floor!

These two people entered a salsa dancing competition and they got really creative with their routine. They’ve decided to do some salsa fighting, kinda like breakdance fighting in Zoolander. Now, I have to admit this to you all. I am actually a huge gamer too, so I know that the dancers in this video are actually portraying a couple of characters from the video game Street Fighter. You really have to check out this video. I hope they won the won the competition, because they deserved it.

A new laundromat has opened up in South Bronx and this one is a bit different then most. It’s named Dios Restaura, which translates to God Restores which proclaims just how faithful the owners are. Everywhere you look, you’ll find something about God. According to the manager, “At all times we have to give glory to Him. No matter where.”

There are religious items everywhere, from the bible laying on the table to the little sign that says “Stop and Praise God.” The manager believes that the best way to preach is by example and there’s no doubt he isn’t leading in that area.

So now you might be asking me, “What does this have to do with salsa dancing?” Well, this building is famous in the Bronx for the ways of it’s new owners but it used to be famous for something else too. You guessed it. Salsa!

Club Cubano Interamericano was a social club that was once a legendary dance hall that helped put Salsa and Mambo on the map. The club got it’s start in 1945 from people of Afro-Cuban descent who emigrated to the Bronx and it just took off from there. With people so highly known in the Salsa scene such as Arsenio Rodriquez and Ray Barretto to Benny Bonilla and the Palmieri brothers living nearby, there was no reason for it not to.

Sadly the club closed sometime in the 90’s but the legend will never die. And a new legend has now filled it’s space. I wouldn’t mind getting my clothes laundered in a place of such history.
